Hyun Su Seo is an active teacher and performer of classical piano. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Washington and a Master’s of Music degree from the University of Southern California. She has studied extensively with celebrated teachers Robin McCabe, Antoinette Perry, Soonja Kim, and Peter Mack. She has performed in masterclasses taught by world class musicians such as Douglas Humphries, Christopher O'Riley, Allen Chow, and Joyce Yang. Along the way, Hyun Su has received top prizes from a multitude of national and international competitions, including the Golden Classical Music Awards, the University of Washington Concerto Competition, the Seattle International Piano Festival, and the Osaka International Music Competition.
Currently, Hyun Su teaches in the Seattle area, inspiring young musicians to develop a personal, intimate love for classical music. Hyun Su firmly believes that music is a universal language. It is an art form that accepts and encourages the uniqueness of all people, and a gift to be enjoyed. As such, she strives to impart a solid technical foundation to her students, allowing them to freely express themselves.
Outside of teaching and performing, Hyun Su enjoys playing with her dogs, reading, and taking walks in nature.

I have always had a love for music because it is so personal and intimate. It allows people to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe way. In music, the word "pastorale" evokes peaceful and joyful feelings of the countryside. Though we will play pieces beyond just the pastorale theme, I desire each student to associate the piano with feelings of peace and happiness. I hope they learn to see the beauty of music, whether it be through the piano or another instrument.

In the age of technology, there are many resources available to guide your piano journey. Lessons, however, should go further than simply learning "how to play". It's about finding your personal voice! At the same time, musical progress requires discipline, consistency, and passion. In my lessons, I encourage students to explore the joy of music while fostering a character of commitment and discipline. If this approach resonates with you, I would love to hear from you!
Collaborative piano is far more than mere accompaniment! I love making music with young, aspiring musicians and supporting them in their musical journey. Contact me if you are in need of a pianist in the greater Seattle area!
